CLOPTON – The Clopton girls basketball team won their first post-season game Monday, Feb. 24, by more than  50, soundly beating Van-Far and hopefully setting a positive tone for the games to come.

Clopton, who will be the host throughout the district tournament, ended the game ahead 80-26.

Clopton came hot out of the gate, scoring 27 points in the first quarter against ten for Van-Far. Clopton slowed down a little in the stretch — but not in a way that mattered, putting up 22, 21 and then 19 points in subsequent quarters.

Clopton’s Caragan Lockard led the team in scoring, putting up 28. The other player in double digits was Megan Harrelson with 23.

Clopton is set to play the three seed South Shelby Wednesday.
