Louisiana swimmers wrap up season at Hannibal meet

The Louisiana High School girls swim team ended a promising season Thursday at a meet in Hannibal attended by teams from Hannibal High School and Marshall High School.

Louisiana’s swim team is small and easily swamped in team-by-team meet scores by larger teams like Hannibal, which can participate in the whole gamut of events. As a result, Coach Joe McLaughlin chose to emphasize a different set of goals.

“We knew we were a small team, and the goals were kind of individual: to start improvement in time throughout the season. We did have a goal, too, to swim some new events that girls haven’t swum before. And then other than that was just to come together as a team,” McLaughlin said.
