The Clopton Hawks knocked off two of their three opponents last week. One big victory came over a solid Wright City team, as the Hawks won 66-62.

“I thought we grew a lot in this game; a tough environment, on the road, against a team who has been playing solid basketball as of late. The two things that made me proud as a coach was a second-half mental tenacity I had not seen yet this season and the point distribution with five players in double figures,” said Clopton head coach Tony Francis.

Scorers were Shawn Yates (14), Dalton Strus (13), Maleek McPike (10), Zakk Elvins (10), and Kennon Watts (10).

The Hawks also beat Silex 55-49 as Yates had 17 points and Jared Hoehn scored 16 points.

On Feb. 6, the Hawks lost to a tough Warrenton squad, 68-51. Elvins had 14 points while both Strus and Hoehn had eight points.
