LOUISIANA – The First Baptist Church of Louisiana will host a tailgate party for coaches, faculty and students from Louisiana Middle School and High School before their services Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. The event will be held in their parking lot.

“The purpose of this day is to ‘kick-off’ the 2019-2020 school year by showing the coaches and all students that the church community is supporting and praying for their success, safety and futures,” a letter sent inviting other congregations to join in the celebration states.

Muffins and juice will be served. Congregants and their guests from the school have been invited to dress in sports attire. Coaches, athletes, band members, cheerleaders and fans will all be recognized at services after the “tailgate,” according to the letter, which was written by Laura Ince and Marta Ince Jines, the youth leaders for the First Baptist community.

The church has also announced that it will hold a series of “Fifth Quarter” nights over the course of the football season. The event will take place after home games on Aug. 30, Sept. 6, Sept. 20, Sept. 27 and Oct. 18. It will be held in the Ministry hall at the church from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

These events are designed to give young people a safe and enjoyable place to spend their time after games, and will feature snacks and games.

“We are extending the invitation to join us in helping chaperone, donating food or again praying over these events. Please reach out to us if you are interested in participating. We appreciate your time and support,” the letter states.

The organizers can be contacted at 573-560-2042 or at 573-795-2773.
