Clopton’s boys and girls track and field program had several top eight performances in meets held in Winfield and Bowling Green last week.

Winfield Meet

On March 18, the Hawks were led by Donovan Denslow winning the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:54.63. He also took second in the 800 (2:09.78) and helped the 4×400 place second (3:54.36). That squad also featured Robert Rothbard, Dylan Smith, and Daniel Harvey.

Rothbard also teamed with Michael Wright, Dylan Horstmeier, and Clayton Rodgers to take fourth in the 4×100 (53.17). Rothboard was seventh in the 100 meters (12.71) as well.

Harvey won the high jump event after he cleared 6’. He placed fourth in the 400 meters as well with a time of 57.18.

Rodgers added a seventh place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (30.48).

As for the Lady Hawks, the 4×400-meter relay team place second with a time of 4:57.66. This group included Beverly Abel, Tricia Luke, Caragan Lockard, and Laura Huckstep.

Another 4×400 team finished third (2:03.97). That team included Madisyn Parrish, Stephanie Talbert, Kari Leake, and Olvia Vaidya.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Abel, Luke, Caragan Lockard, and Huckstep was third (2:03.97).

Abel also took fifth in the 400 meters (1:12.24).

Parrish took sixth in the 100 (15.09) and sixth in the 200 (31.77).

Talbert placed eighth in the shot put (23’10”).

One 4×100-meter relay team of Talbert, Luke, Caragan Lockard, and Huckstep were third (58.54).

The 4×100-meter relay team of Emma Pemble, Emily Oakes, Vaidya, and Parrish were fifth (1:01.96).

Oakes was eighth in the 100 meters (15.43).

Bowling Green Open Meet

In the Open Meet at Bowling Green on March 21, Donovan led the Hawks by winning the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:55. He also won the 800 meters (2:11.50).

Harvey won the high jump event after clearing 6’0” and was second in the long jump with a leap of 16’10”.

Rothbard took sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.55 seconds.

Though Avery Hall didn’t place, he did set new personal records in the shot put (30’9”) and the discus (82’).

As for the Lady Hawks, Abel was second in the 400 with a time of 1:12.65 while Talbert was seventh (1:17.41) and Leake took eighth (1:19.56).

Parrish was seventh in the 100 meters (14:49).

The 4×200-meter relay team of Abel, Caragan Lockard, Huckstep, and Luke was second (2:05.12).

As for the 4×400, Abel, Huckstep, Caragan Lockard, and Parrish were fourth (4:48.06).

The 4×100-meter relay team of Talbert, Parrish, Caragan Lockard, and Huckstep were fourth (58.25).
