Buffington gets medal at Elsberry, conference title

Bowling Green golfer Brayden Buffington had a memorable week for the Bobcats’ golf program.

He started out with a medalist victory in the 18-team Elsberry Invitational. Buffington then won a tri-match and ended the week by winning an EMO Conference title after shooting a one under par 71 to claim the top prize and first-team, all-conference honors.

Also at the EMO Conference event on Monday, April 22, McCoy Thompson earned second team, all-conference honors after shooting a 97. The team finished fifth overall.

In the Elsberry Invitational, Buffington shot a 76 to win the overall title. The team finished third in their flight of eight schools.

In the tri-match with Clopton and Louisiana, Buffington led all golfers with a 37 as the Bobcats shot a team score of 198.

Thompson added a 43 while both Korynn Stevens and Lance Johnson shot a 59.
