The Bowlinbggreentimes.com and the Louisianapressjournal.com websites are no more. Starting Tuesday, June 25, online visitors were redirected to Pikecountynews.com, an online partnership of the Bowling Green Times and the Louisiana Press-Journal.
With a new design, which improves navigation across multiple platforms, pikecountynews.com brings the news that matters directly to each home computer or mobile device.
“This is an exciting time for the Bowling Green Times, the Louisiana Press-Journal and our readers,” said Publisher Walt Gilbert. “This new platform delivers the very best user experience on your phone, on your tablet or on your desktop.”
Bigger and easier-to-read text, as well as an improved home page with streamlined navigation, make it easier for readers to find their favorite sections.
“Our new site is responsive with a much cleaner navigation,” Gilbert said. “On desktop, our navigation features the top headlines of the day of the section you are about to go to. On mobile it condenses down for easy viewing.”
The site’s new classifieds section not only brings classifieds advertising online from the print editions of both Pike County papers, but it allows users to place classifieds from the convenience of their smart phones.
The site features new platforms for weather, family announcements, and obituaries.
“We’ve updated our website to give you a better experience,” said Gilbert. “The design is cleaner, the user experience is more inviting, and we’ve added new features to better connect you with the news you care about.”
Key features include a responsive design that delivers content optimized for the viewer – whether on a desktop computer or smart phone – and a robust search function, including guided search available on all devices. Expanded menus offer users the ability to reach virtually any page on the site within one or two clicks.
“This new website is the result of a lot of hard work from a lot of people,“ Gilbert said. “We’re proud of the work they’ve done to create this site for you.”
