VFW donates flag whiteside

WHITESIDE – Clarksville VFW 4610 and Auxiliary held a special dedication and presentation ceremony at the Whiteside School House on Monday, Aug. 5.  Americanism Chair Joanne Hammuck was the emcee for the event. The opening prayer was given by VFW Post Chaplain, Rev. Al Boatman. A special reading was given by Commander Herbert Everett: “Thirteen Folds of the Flag,” Special words were given by President Mary Tarpein, Quartermaster Robert LaForte and auxiliary member Jay Smith raised the flag, Pledge of Allegiance was done. A big thank you was given by Judy Cannon of Whiteside.

Special guest attending was Lincoln County Sheriff John Cottle and his wife.

Also attending from the Clarksville VFW Post and Auxiliary were: Carolyn and Mike Everett, Charlie and Helen Riffle and Camille Shultz.

A new flag pole was recently installed at the Whiteside School House by the inmates from the Lincoln County Sheriff Department. Officer Jim Johnson is in charge of the Community Service Program, implemented by Sheriff Cottle, which has given many volunteer hours to support projects in North Lincoln County.
