LOUISIANA – Pike County Memorial Hospital has been awarded a $20,300 grant to support the purchase and upgrade of emergency communication equipment.
The money represents Pike County’s share of $112,000 divided among applicants in State Emergency Management Agency Region C, according to Reesa Vanhooser, Pike Memorial’s Emergency Medical Services director. Pike County is the northern-most part of Region C, which includes the counties in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Pike Memorial had applied for $72,000 to upgrade communication towers, radios and other equipment. Vanhooser said the decision to fund only part of the request was not unexpected, with the hospital planning to apply for more funding in the future to make up the total.
“Very few are fully funded, especially the larger projects. You can always come back next year,” Vanhooser said.
Representatives of Pike County Memorial and its partners in the application will meet shortly to decide how to use the money that was awarded.
