CLOPTON – A local FFA member was recently selected to compete for national recognition in a career development event at the 92nd National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
The Clopton FFA Chapter will send members to Indianapolis as they vie for national honors in the employment skills area. CSX and Arysta LifeScience North America Corporation sponsor the event. FFA member Olivia Brune will represent the chapter. Rachel Hudson is the chapter advisor.
Olivia Brune was selected as the Missouri State Winner in Job Interview this past April to be sent to compete at National FFA Convention. She has spent the last six months preparing with individuals across Missouri to help prepare her for this event by participating in mock phone interviews and face to face interviews.
Employment skills is one of 25 career/leadership development event areas, covering jobs skills in everything from communications to mechanics. This event is designed to recognize outstanding FFA members for their ability to prepare and interview for real-world employment opportunities. Part of the preparation includes creating a cover letter, resume and completing a job application. Participants also show their ability to think on their feet through a networking activity. CDEs and LDEs help students develop the abilities to think critically, communicate clearly and perform effectively in a competitive job market.
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 669,989 student members who belong to one of 8,630 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
