Clopton PTO celebrates successes

Successes over the year so far were discussed during the recent Clopton PTO meeting. The meeting, held Jan. 8, was presided over by PTO President Ann Denslow.

In Old Business:

Products sold during the annual fall fundraiser through Club’s Choice totaled over $10,000, with PTO earning more than a $4,000 profit.

The annual Chili Supper/Trunk or Treat attracted many patrons. The PTO collected many donations this year to help make the event successful and earned over $1,300.

Pre-K through 5th grade students were excited to participate in the annual Holiday Shoppe, also provided through Club’s Choice.

Cookie sales following the annual Elementary Christmas Concert were phenomenal.

Parents donated cookies and PTO sold them two per bag at $0.50 each. PTO collected over $267. The money was donated to the Clopton music program. Extra cookies were also sold at the Freshmen Class Dinner. Classroom Christmas parties were very successful as many parents volunteered to celebrate with their students.

In New Business:

Funds have been allocated for purchasing additional mulch for the elementary playground. This work will wait until spring and better weather.

Swing mats have been chosen to be placed underneath the swings. They will be purchased once the mulch has been spread.

New playground equipment (kickballs, footballs, etc.) was approved for purchase.

Gift cards will be distributed to teachers to replenish classroom supplies. A pair of eyeglasses has been purchased for a student to keep and use at school.

It was approved to sell cookies following the spring elementary concert. Information will be sent home to parents closer to the event.
