BONCL SCHOOL – A BONCL teacher has received a $500 grant from the Missouri Retired Teacher Association, the vice-president for the region of the organization that includes Pike County reported.

Marla Ries received the grant Thursday, Aug. 15, in front of BONCL R-X staff.

She was one of seven teachers to receive the grant in Region 13, which includes Pike, Warren, Lincoln and St. Charles counties. She applied for the grant before June 30.

The money will be spent to improve STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) education for more than 25 student in grades five-eight.

The money was granted through the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation, the charitable arm of the MRTA. Each of the 14 MRTA regions gave seven grants of $500, for a total of $49,000.
