The souvenir Bowling Green Bicentennial Coins are in and are available for $1, said Don Hamilton.
“We had to order a minimum of 6,000 of these minted aluminum coins,” he said. “With that in mind, the committee felt that we should attempt to give a free coin to every public-, parochial-, elementary- and middle-school student in the Bowling Green area.
“For any home-schooled student, or high school student who wants his or her free coin, they are available for pick up at the Farmers Insurance office at 106 S. Court Street.
Pre-school children who are with their parents downtown on July 1, may pick up their free coin at the main festival booth.
“We are trying to be sure that Bowling Green’s young people feel included and appreciated,” Hamilton added. “There is an obvious expense to everything when it comes to a huge celebration like this, which is why we must limit this to just one free coin for each of our kids. The committee knows that providing a good time with great memories for these young people, would insure their participation 50 years from now in the 2073 Quarter Millennium Festival.”
Hamilton noted that, “The coins turned out great and we hope that you will enjoy this inexpensive festival souvenir, along with our many other souvenir offerings available during the on-square activities June 28-July 1, 2023.
