The Missouri National Education Association is suing the state in an effort to block the appropriation of $51 million to MOScholars, the state’s K-12 scholarship program.

R-I Board approves salary schedules for 2025-26 school year
Employees of the Bowling Green R-I School District will see an increase in pay for the next school year after the Board took action on May 20 to approve salary schedules. The base pay for teachers will increase from $39,000 to $39,200 and the base hourly rate for staff positions will increase to $15 per hour for those employees paid on an hourly basis.

Area voters head to the polls
There were numerous positions up for election in the April 8 polls. According to the Pike County Clerk’s office, these are the unofficial results from Tuesday’s election.

Community in more need of resources for homeless
The need for resources to care for those without homes in the community might not be apparent to a lot of people, but it is there nevertheless.

Birthday Blessing fills requests for foster children
Birthday Blessings filled 159 requests from foster children in Lincoln and Pike counties in 2024. The organization focuses on providing needed resources to children in care.
