The game did not start out well for the Lady Cats last Friday evening when they went head-to-head against the Van-Far Lady Indians.

In a reversal of what occurred earlier with the girls’ game, the Bowling Green boys came out strong and dominated the court, putting up the first two points of the game. It wasn’t long before the Bobcats were up 5 – 0 against the Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs made their presence known quickly Tuesday last week when they took on the Lady Cats in varsity basketball.

There’s no two ways about it. It was a tough, tough loss for the Bobcats. Last year during semifinal play the Tigers dominated the football field beating the Bobcats 47 – 16. This year, however, the two teams were more evenly matched.

The Louisiana Bulldogs boys basketball team faces high expectations this season, and with a whole new coaching staff and nearly a brand-new team, they have plenty to prove. Matt Boswell is taking the helm as head coach, and is halfway through his first year teaching at LHS. Returning to the district as head football coach, Steve Gshwender is stepping into the role of assistant boys basketball coach.

This, the second meeting of these two teams had a much different outcome than the first meeting. During the regular season, the Valle Catholic Warriors played well that first game handing the Bobcats their only loss during the season.

It was the perfect night for football; cool and crisp. Standing at the door from the locker room leading onto the field, the Bobcats were eager for this game to begin.
