Afterschool Program starts year with 48 students
The Twin Pike Family YMCA 21st CCLC Bowling Green Afterschool Program started the 2024-2025 school year with 48 students. Currently there are 80 students enrolled. The Bowling Green and Frankford Afterschool Programs, along with the BONCL Before and Afterschool Program are in their second year of the 21st CCLC grant for the school years of 2023-2027.

Edith Gomez
LHS senior, Edith Gomez, is the daughter of Juana Gomez, Elias Santiago, and Saul Francisco. She is the sister of three siblings: Jaquelin Santiago, Carlos Santiago, and Cristian Francisco. Her favorite things to do with her family are watch movies and have late-night talks. Three words that describe Edith are "authentic, independent, and caring." Her role model, she said is her mother.

Kol Green
Kol Green is involved in band, track, quiz bowl, and Interact Club. They have 11 siblings: Kimi and Kami Green, Andrew and Aundrea Ross, Kendra, Kevin, William, Wyatt, and Lilly Sperry, and Chris and Owen Craigmiles. Kol loves spending time with their family by doing puzzles and playing board games. When asked who they admire most they responded that it was their older sister Kimi. They admire Kimi because she is their greatest inspiration; despite the challenges, Kimi completed high school and pursued her dreams in college. She has always been a role model for Kol and one of Kol's closest friends.

Manuel Gijon
Manuel Gijon, also known to LHS as "Manny," is the son of Amanda Gijon and Marvin Burse. He has a total of five brothers: Marcus, Luis, and Eddie Gijon, and his stepbrothers, Dennell and Parker Burse. Manuel's most influential person in his life has been his mom because he admires her more than anyone else. His favorite thing to do with his family is going out to eat. Manuel's most valued possession is his dog. Some of his hobbies include boxing, playing video games, and driving around.


7th Annual Turkey Trot the largest ever
More than 260 people registered for the Pike County Health Department’s 7th Annual Turkey Trot that took place Thanksgiving morning. According the PCHD, this is the largest number of people who had registered for this event in its seven years.

Christmas in the Green continues to make a positive mark in Bowling Green
Conceived as a way to draw more people to Bowling Green to showcase the myriad of locally- owned and run businesses, Kay Reading and Evelyn Graham came up with the idea of getting the owners to band together for a retail event just ahead of the Christmas season. That brought about Christmas in the Green.

BGR-I Board passes on invitation to CCC
An invitation to Bowling Green High School to join the Clarence Cannon Conference was presented to the R-I School Board at its meeting on Nov. 19. The Clarence Cannon Conference currently has seven high school members scattered around Northeast Missouri and invited BGHS to become its eighth member. BGHS is a founding member of the Eastern Missouri Conference and has been in that conference for around 70 years. Following the recommendation of the administration, the Board took no action on the invitation.
