'We're Here All Year' announced as 2025 theme for Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
The Pike County Agency for Developmental Disabilities said it is proud to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month this March with the campaign "We're Here All Year," emphasizing that community, accessibility, and opportunities for people with developmental disabilities should be recognized and championed every day—not just in March. Established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month highlights the importance of enabling persons with developmental disabilities to contribute to their communities, which happens each and every day in Pike County.

Decoration Winners
Because of the extreme cold, snow and ice, the Louisiana Community Betterment Association was unable to present the winners of the 2024 Window and Residential Decorating Contest until recently. Checks were presented to all the winners.


Debbie Sullivan – Louisiana Elks Lodge
Debbie Sullivan has been a member of the Louisiana Elks Lodge 791 for seven years. She is in charge of the bingo, which is held every two weeks. She also works at the Trimble House two days a week.

Baseball Fest proves rewarding for local boy
Jaxson Wommack, 14, of Bowling Green, was selected to play for the JP Sports All-American team in the New Year’s Baseball Fest held in Panama City Beach, Fla. Jaxson was one of 12 on the team out of hundreds of athletes selected.
