Couple runs half marathon to raise $13,100 for DeafLEAD's Crisis Care Services
Columbia, MO – September 2, 2025 – Wende Wagner is lacing up her running shoes for a 13.1-mile half marathon to raise funds and awareness for DeafLEAD, a Columbia-based nonprofit providing accessible crisis intervention and support to the deaf community. Joined by her boyfriend, Bud Gardner, the couple aims to collect $1,000 per mile, totaling $13,100, to ensure equitable care for deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, and late-deafened individuals facing trauma, so no one feels truly alone.
