LAWRENCE GRIFFITH

Lawrence J. Griffith “John D,” 64, of Hannibal, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024. John D was born on Dec. 1, 1959 in Louisiana, Mo., to Pauline Griffith and Lawrence Crowder. He attended Louisiana High School. He worked at Hannibal Regional Hospital for a number of years. Once he found out he had cancer, he would tell everyone don’t put off having your screenings done. Even if they were tired of hearing him say it.
John D loved being with family and being the No. 1 fish fryer at our family events. He traveled a lot to football, basketball, and track meets to watch any family member he could. He was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan, as he would say a “Ride or Die Fan”. He was the only one who watched his mom Pauline make her famous spaghetti and chili. Then he would always send an ice cream container of it to everyone. It would take them all day to prepare, so you knew it was made with so much love!
He is survived by one daughter, Tinea Dixon; three sons, Adrian Campbell, Craig Dixon, and Kane Mayfield; four brothers Kenny (Cathy) Griffith, Kevin Griffith, Ronnie (Shanette) Griffith, and Donnie (Mary) Griffith; five sisters Rosetta (William) Powell, Roberta (Michael) Watts, Edna Griffith, Rugenia Hill, and Selenia Dryden; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were truly dear to him.
Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Louisiana, Mo. Pastor Robert Bell, Jr officiated. The burial was at the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana, Mo. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
