Virgil Raymond “Ray” Niffen, 54, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024.

Ray was born on Feb. 27, 1970, to Rossie (Ross) Niffen and Bertha (Bert) Niffen in Quincy, Ill.

Ray is survived by his dad and four siblings, Lisa Minor, Rossie (Bub) Niffen, Stacy Phillips (Nathan), and Chrissy Curry (Phillip).

Ray grew up in Bowling Green, Mo., until the family moved to Mineola, Texas, where he graduated high school. Ray later moved back to Bowling Green, where he married Leslie Traynor in 1997. She survives.

Ray is also survived by five children, the 5 Cs as he liked to call them: Chelsey Watts (James), Cassidy Niffen, Curtis Niffen, Christian Niffen, and Carman Niffen. Ray has 11 grandchildren whom he dearly loves.

Ray’s Mom, Bert Niffen, and infant son, Dustin Niffen, died earlier.

Ray loved camping, fishing, float trips, and celebrating holidays. Ray loved life and his family.

Cremation services and a private memorial will be held by the family. Cremation rites are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bowling Green.
