Friends and family were invited to Albert’s Life Celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at the Hannibal Country Club.

The family is being served by the James O’Donnell Funeral Home of Hannibal, Mo.

Born on Feb. 26, 1955, to the late Judge Albert L. Rendlen Sr. and Susan Clayton Rendlen Stark, Albert’s life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family, the joy of friendship, and the pleasure of simple pastimes.

Albert, lovingly known by his friends and family as just “Albert,” was a beacon of kindness, friendliness, and humor throughout his 69 years. He grew up in Louisiana, Mo., and carried with him the small-town values of community and camaraderie throughout his life. Albert’s professional journey as a dedicated project coordinator for Arrow Industries allowed him to leave a lasting impact on the world of natural gas transmission, refinery operations, chemical operations, and heavy industry.

A man of many passions, Albert was an avid golfer who found solace in the green expanses of some of the country’s most beautiful courses, including Pebble Beach, Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii, and those of his beloved Hannibal Country Club and Louisiana Country Club. His love for the sport was only matched by his love for fishing, a pastime that took him from the tranquil waters of Wisconsin to the exotic currents of the Amazon River in South America.

Albert’s enthusiasm for life extended to his love for the St. Louis Cardinals, particularly the era of Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina. His loyalty to the team was as steadfast as his love for travel, with memorable trips to Italy and Lake Tahoe among the highlights of his adventures. Albert also held close to his heart special trips to Costa Rica and Austin, Texas, for his daughters’ weddings. He was also a lover of blues music, with the likes of B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Oak Ridge Boys, and Bonnie Raitt providing the soundtrack to many of his evenings spent in good conversation with a fine scotch in hand.

His taste in entertainment was eclectic, from the comedic genius of “Blazing Saddles” to the classic westerns like “Gunsmoke,” and the suave sophistication of Sean Connery’s James Bond. But above all, Albert cherished his family and embraced the role of being a grandpa. He took great delight in sharing experiences with his granddaughter Frances, whether it was a trip to the St. Louis Zoo, a Cardinals game, or simply enjoying time together.

Albert is survived by his loving mother, Susan Clayton Stark; his two children, Marietta Lorraine Rendlen (Justin Novinger) and Elizabeth Anne Rhymer (Austin); his longtime partner and companion, Judy Woolen; his sister, Susan Williams and his granddaughter, Frances Lorraine Rhymer. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a source of unwavering support and joy to them.

His father, his nephew, Clayton Scott Williams, and his brother-in-law, Scott B. Williams, died earlier.

In every conversation, Albert’s optimistic spirit shone through with his signature parting words, “We’ll go from there,” a phrase that encapsulated his forward-looking and positive approach to life.

Albert L. Rendlen Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, laughter, and camaraderie will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
