HELEN ROSE JOHNSON

Helen Rose Johnson, 98, of Eolia, Mo., died at her home Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green, with Pastor Murray Phillips officiating. Burial was in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Helen was born April 15, 1926, in Swede Town, just outside of Bowling Green and lived in Pike County her entire life. She was one of nine children born to Walter and Rebecca (Grable) Martin and attended Bowling Green schools until the eighth grade. Following school she worked for a local garment factory. On Nov. 28, 1943, she married Garnet Taylor Johnson and became a farm wife and raised their four children. Garnet preceded Helen in death on June 13, 2002.
Helen leaves behind to cherish her memories two children Linda Grummel of Bowling Green and Randy Johnson (Patty) of Eolia; grandchildren Terri Kelly, Marla Kuntz (Jeff), Beth Walraven, Megan Grummel, Matt Morrison (Sherita), Jessica Grummel, Amanda St.John, Taylor Johnson, Duell Johnson, and Dalton Johnson (Cayla); several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers Eddie Martin, Charlie Martin and Larry Martin; sister Margie Jones (Charles); and nieces, nephews and extended family.
Her parents; husband; sons, Billy Wayne Johnson and Mark Eugene Johnson; as well as four siblings died earlier.
Helen spent a large part of her life raising her family and being a farmer’s wife, often cooking large thanksgiving size meals for the farm crew during harvest season. She was also well known for her peanut brittle and light rolls. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed flower and vegetable gardens, mushroom hunting, quilting, and going every Thursday morning with the ladies for coffee at Calvin’s. She enjoyed reading western books, watching Wheel of Fortune, John Wayne movies, and Walker Texas Ranger. She collected dolls and fixed them up.
Serving as pallbearers were Junior Johnson, Duell Johnson, Dalton Johnson, Chris Walraven, Clayton Walraven, Matt Morrison, and Lucas St.John.
Memorials may be made to Edgewood Cemetery.
